Discord
Kesara is a personal project of mine that I developed for use by my friends.
I found that my friends would recommend music to each other quite often through Discord, but messages and pings would often get buried, so it was hard to keep track of all the recommendations. I wouldn't listen to songs my friends recommended until a few months after the fact, which was a problem. To solve this, I came up with a basic idea using the Spotify and Last.fm APIs; Spotify to source reliable song data rather than relying on users typing out titles, Last.fm to track whether or not a user had finished a recommended item.
The bot was written entirely in Python, using the Discord.py library. The code implements asynchronous best practices. Data is stored using PostgreSQL and is retrieved using psycopg2. Development on the bot is still ongoing, as it needs to be updated to match the new Application Commands framework introduced by Discord.
